    Bear Pen Sabotage

    Just a friendly warning....
Bear Pen in Coleman Boundary has been sabotaged/booby trapped. It looks like the movie Predator when Arnold built all the traps. There are huge logs across the trail, huge stumps in the middle of the trail, and multiple rocks everywhere. It obviously took more than one person. With hunting season getting ready to be in full swing it makes me wonder... It could be angry hikers who knows.

Brad- it's happened before. There's some angry hikers, correct. Kind of started the same time the alternate lines started to develop, if I recall correctly.

    Thanks for the head's up.

Would be worth reporting to USFS, no?

Man this is a bummer to hear. Is it going to take a dedicated effort to clean up? I'm free this weekend if we want to get a crew together. Been looking for a reason to get back up there (live in Hendo) and ride/fish.

It's going to take some time. You could say they were highly motivated. It looks like a cross between the Ewok village in Return of the Jedi and Predator lol. I didn't have my phone with me at the time but my friend took some pics. I will try to get them uploaded.

Not in NC now. But I've seen this happen before.

Make sure to move everything off the trail no matter what. If they persist - tree cameras.

Maybe its the hunters? It is technically game lands.

Yeah everyone is sooo nice out there. I always stop and chat with the dog walkers, hikers, etc and they are all very cool with bikes. I just hope it doesnt get worse. Im out there solo most of the time and the last thing I need is to hit some booby trap late at night.

The same thing happened to the same trail 6 months ago so not sure about hunters. All of the hunters I have come across are super nice. Plus they just bushwhack for the most part. I doubt they are concerned with a fall line trail. But who knows, be safe solo out there.

Just back from bent creek. Met a guy who ran over copious nails strewn on sidehill connector. He cleaned em all up and buried em but had both tires torn up

Which trail is that? I live up Riceville, try to keep at least one local trail open, and can help out.
