    AVL (area) trail reco

I have family coming up next week from FL. Where would you take someone with about a year under their belt on a bike (all off road) who would like to minimize the climbing. I would assume a DuPont trip, but what other options would I have to offer. Single track, of course, would be my preference so I can be a good host.

All the trails have some climbing. but...

Bent Creek or DuPont are your best bet for beginners.

I am not a Pisgah local, but ended up on South Mills River Trail last Sunday for about 5 miles coming off a ride of Squirrel, Horse Cove and Cantrell.

I could not imagine an easier 5 miles of riding in Pisgah than this section of trail I rode. Wouldn't call it singletrack, as it is a little wide, but unmatched in ease.

This is the only 5 miles of SMR I recall ever being on.

Bill has a point. That section of SMR from mulinax to Cantrell creek is very easy riding. The section from cantrell to Squirrel gap has some deeep water crossings and should be avoided, From squirrel to the gauging station is also easy.

The whole thing is a muddy mess when it rains.
