    Asheville riding over the winter.

Obligatory explanation: I travel weekly to the mid-Atlantic for work and can basically live anywhere on the weekends, the closer to the east coast, the better. I REALLY want to be able to ride dirt (off-road) through the winter.

Would Asheville be a good place to plant roots Dec-Apr? Bentonville is next on my list to investigate.

    TIA.

Yep. Plenty of riding available during the winter. Just don't ride after rain then freezing temperatures. Freeze-thaw destroys the trails.

While this may be true, Bentonville AR may be a better option. I'm ig'nunt to their weather.

If you live here full time, you can find opportunities to ride through the winter, yes. But if you're only here on weekends, you could easily have a two month stretch that is very difficult to ride, since you are limiting yourself to two days a week. One freeze cycle or one rain/snow event, and singletrack is pretty sloppy for a bit.

Just stay off clay hard pack trails during freeze thaw and you are fine. Hard pack sucks anyway😉
