6 Hrs of Warrior Creek Question...

Never done this race (only ridden the trail twice), so I must ask, do they run this rain or shine? Wet or dry? The forecast is not promising, but whatever...I am just curious as to what the trail conditions might be so I know if I need to change my tires.

I assume they will run it rain or shine but i dont really know for sure...In my experience though this trail can get really messy in the rain and it dries very slowly...

I was out there for a ride a few weeks back after we had had several days of hard rain and the water level of the lake was up above the trail in several spots...that type situation may lead to a cancellation...

It had rained alot before the race when I did a 6hr Duo there, and by the time I did my second lap the trail was dry as a bone.It dries fast when you run several hundred bikes on it.With all those berms you don't need much tire to turn.

With all the rain forecast I may have to edit my post and suggest Nevegals for a tire choice(29er of course)
I also noticed the course is longer around 12 miles - that makes it harder to get 6 laps in 6 hours.

How about FS 29er or HT 26er for slick conditions? Just how muddy is it going to be if they get an inch on Thursday/Friday?

I think you could count on 2 hands the solo riders that did 6 in 6 last year.

Clearly the trail conditions will favor 26ers. Smaller tires means less caked on clay = less rotational weight.

The Specialized Storm Control tire rocks at WC! Certainly worth a shot... Ya'll enjoy this weekend. Unforeseen events will keep us home (already contacted the promoter so our spot can go some lucky soul). Enjoy!

The longer the ride - the better the pain

So you rode on Tuesday? It hasn't seen that much rain since then, has it?

I would think with the weather today and the clear sunny day tomorrow, we should be good for a pre-ride Friday afternoon and the course should be pretty good for the race Saturday.

In 2009 there was several miles of newly cut trail and it still dried out quickly, looks like a great forecast for Saturday

I rode the last and first couple miles a bunch demoing Niners and conditions are excellent. I'd plan on dry and tacky tomorrow stay up on the berms and off the leaves and you'll have a blast

Well, I am glad I asked the question. I ended up taking off the WTB Wolverine/Maxxis Larsen TT combo and going with Nevegals (best wet weather tire that happened to be in my garage) and I am glad I did (32:18 gearing on my 26er seemed like a good choice also). First lap was a mess, over the next three things really shaped up.
Already looking forward to next year!

Awsome time......Big thanks to my friends at BMCC
Trail was rough but set up real nice after a lap or two. New additions were sweet!
