Sight Carbon 7.1 - replacement headset?

Can anyone recommend an upgrade to the FSA Orbit C-40-ACB integrated headset that comes stock on the Sight 7.1.

After a couple of muddy rides, mine is rusted out and creaking badly, even after cleaning and regreasing a couple of times. There doesn't appear to be any decent seal at all at the bottom bearing area.

    Thanks

    Chris

Have you tried the warranty replacement? I believe issues like that are covered for 1 year from the date of purchase.

For replacement, in case you don't want to warranty it out, I'd suggest going with Cane Creek 40 or 110-series. Both have seals on the bottom area to protect against moisture and dirt.

Not sure I'll bother with the warranty replacement, as it is highly likely to occur again.

Looks like the FSA headset uses the Campag angular bearing standard, so will an equivalent integrated Cane Creek 40 or 110 be OK to fit?

    Thanks for your help.

Either 40 or 110 will fit, you will need IS 42 (top) / IS 52 (bottom)

110 is slightly nicer set (and includes "110 year warranty"), however it comes a premium price. 110 has two sealing lips on the crown race, where as the 40 has "only" one.

Both 40 and 110 are really nice though and either one will provide a seal from dirt. I've used primarly 40-series here in SoCal and never had any issues.

Yeah but I found two different ones.. IS52-30 and IS52-40.. I think the last number is outer diameter of the crown or something..

    IS52-40 for the bottom

52-40 is for 1-1/2 down steer
52-30 is for 1-1/8 down steer

Rockshox Pike has 1-1/2 down steer, so you need IS52-40

Check your PM, I have one extra Cane Creek 40-series headset if you need it.
