    2016 Norco Sight Build

    Hello,

New member to mtbr and new to mtbs in general. Decided to make a diary of the bike build and also to reflect on how much money i have wasted (i'll include all prices of purchases and labour) . This is my 2016 norco sight a7.2.
    2016 Norco Sight Build-20180827_164506.jpg2016 Norco Sight Build-20180827_164545.jpg

Bit of a back story, i work in medical imaging and one day was scanning a patient who has had a major accident on one of the local trails. While in a neck brace, he told me " you should try mtbs, its great fun". So i went and got myself a mtb. I've Purchased the bike above for $1700AUD. The gentleman i purchased it off bought the bike from New Zealand. Had the item packed and sent to Australia, built and ridden home from the shop. I reckon 1700 for a bike thats has never touched the mountain isn't so shabby . I'll put down a list of stuff that has been done to the bike and items that have been purchased and not installed:

    - The bike has had its front fork and rear shock serviced with a custom tune. This cost $200.
    - I've purchased a 1x11 groupset from aliexpress. This includes a xt shifter, derailleur, 11-46 sunrace cassette and a kmc 11spd chain. This was $266.60 including shipping and taxes. After reading many threads that the rear derailleur may have issues i also got a rear hanger for $7 just incase.
    - i went and got a 1x11 xt crank set to match for $80 off gumtree. While i was looking for a ring to match, i found a e13trs+ crank with a ring for cheap and a e13 high mount chain guard to match. This was $220 including shipping and taxes ( The shipping and taxes was about $80.....)
    - Seeing as the crank was the older model, i had to buy the e13 crank tool and that set me back another $35
-Purchased odi grips for $40, nukeproof pro pedals $110, Five ten impact pro shoes$95 and a e13 bsa 68/73 threaded bb $100. These were all purchased from CC.
    - Purchased a cane creek shock IL for $300 that was used 3 times off FB. This was the updated shock which apparently has the resolved issues i hope! Just put in an order for the 2 mounts for $61 including shipping.

As you can probably tell by now, none of these purchases make any sense. I know i could easily have purchased another used bike with all these components and better frame for cheaper but........... i've got nothing. I've told myself to just keep the bike stock and to just go enjoy riding but i love the fact i can upgrade each component of the bike and make it my own build.

I'm currently waiting for some of the above components. I am still riding the bike as wait for the components to come. Will these parts make me better or will i feel a difference? probably not. I just like buying new toys

I'll try and update this diary regularly. Told myself i wont buy brakes, or wheels, or fork but who knows? Please post any suggestions on parts or anything in general. I ride around mt stromolo in Canberra, Australia.

    Cheers for reading

Just purchased a used lyrik 2016 - 150mm with Vorsprung Luftkappe. This purchases was literally out of the blue. Purchased for $500aud, there is a slight scratch thats not so deep but seems like theres no impact internally. Going to buy new decals to cover

Be interested to hear how you like the fork. I've got the A7.1 and love it. I did swapout the stem for a shorter one for quicker handling. 2016 Norco Sight Build-norco-a7.1-upload.jpg

    New hoops and tires.
WTB KOM i29s with DHF 2.5 and DHR 2.4.
Really helped the bike rip corners and haul through the rock gardens. Well worth the money.

Slow update!!!!! so everything is going on the bike now. When i purchased the cane creek it was actually 200x51. I found some answers online but it led to a discontinued link......So for people out there, the cane creek air IL has a "stroke reducer" it can be removed at home but is not as simple as adding a volume reducer. Was charged $50 from local mountain suspension centre for the stroke reducer to be removed, it's now 200x57. Didn't want to buy the e13 bb tool so just grabbed the old pliers .

Waiting for the hope dh wheels to come in, i wanted galfer 180mm rotors and pads but the shipping to Australia is more then the item itself... no one in Australia stocks them either. So just got a pair of icetech 180mm($100uad for the pair).

Finally got the bike out, the suspension feels great. Alot better over the stock, haven't ridden a stock lyrik so hard to say i feel any improvement with the vorsprung. Just trying to get as many runs as possible to get the front and rear dialed, especially that cane creek.
