    RLT 9 RDO 4 Star

I purchased a Niner RLT 9 RDO 4 star build thru a bike shop online. It was delivered and now I need to put it together. I am having a little difficulty as Niner says to route the rear brake hose down the top tube then thru the chain stay, but the hose comes attached to the caliper. Do I remove the rubber end and install it from the chain stay end? GRX800 brakes.

Yup, just route from rear to front.

Usually online shops have the bike assembled before shipping. Did you ask them not to?

Thanks for the reply. I routed from to the front with no issues.

I had never purchased a new bike online before and thought they came somewhat preassembled. I am now reading Niners arenít. Things are going pretty well and I am enjoying the project even though it can be frustrating at times. 🤪

Niner builds are at least 50% pre-assembled by Niner themselves before shipping to the dealers. This saves dealers time and labor. Dealers are supposed to complete the assembly for the customer. Curious where you bought your bike from?

    Here are the specifics:

Niner will perform 50 percent assembly of bicycles in their Fort Collins facility before shipping to retailers. This in-house effort will reduce overhead labor costs for Niner dealers and streamline the time to floor. Assembly specifics will vary by model, but generally include bottom bracket and crank installation, pressing headsets and installing crown races, routing dropper post housing, mounting brakes, shifters, and grips to the handlebar, and installing tires, rotors, and the cassette on the wheels.

"This initiative should allow dealers to get our bikes ride-ready and out to the floor or customer in half the time," said Scott Lampe, Niner's director of operations. "We understand the time it takes to complete a full, frame-up build and the opportunity cost of a mechanic's time and labor. We are excited to offer this added value, for both new and existing dealers."

I found a shop thru PinkBike. The bike came in the original sealed Niner box and unpacking was as shown in the picture.

Finished the build except wrapping the bars as I am considering sub brakes.

But happy with it so far.

Several years ago I ordered a Niner BSB9 3-star from Competitive Cyclist. All I had to do upon arrival was put the bars back in the stem clamp, install the seat and seatpost back in the frame and put on the wheels and it was ready to ride. I did not request or pay anything additional for it to arrive like that.

This is concerning. It blew out while sitting on the stand.
Stans Grail wheel and SCHWALBE G-ONE EVO tire, 35miles on the setup. Pressure was around 60psi. I am glad it didnít happen while I was riding it.

    Thoughts?

Update, it appears the bead is broken in the tire. I am contacting the dealer to see about a replacement tire.

    Edit: to add update.

Yeah, I would be concerned about that dealer.

By contract with Niner, they are supposed to build it up and test the bike before shipping.

Iíve asked a dealer before to skip the build and just ship it to me to build to save time.

They wouldnít because of their responsibility to Niner. Possibly they are really busy thanks to this mess called Covid and just threw it out the door...
