    2015 niner R.I.P. 9 Rdo 160mm?

Has anyone run 160mm front fork on the 2015 rip 9 rdo? I have a 140mm pike and I ordered the 160mm air shaft. I am a bigger guy 250lb and think I could use some more cushion. Has anyone done it? Advice or thoughts? Thanks in advance

I ran a 150 mm Pike on mine for awhile and thought it was okay with more cushion and slacker headtube, but recently upgraded to a 140 mm Debonair air spring and added a 1 1/2* angle head set and find the bike rides better. Less twitchy and lower front end for climbing and biting into corners easier w/o having to weight the front end so much. I wouldn't go past 150 mm if I were you.

I really wanted to bring the head angle up a little and thought that would be the best way to do it.

Do you want the front end higher or the HA slacker?
The one thing to think about with the taller fork is that this year Rip RDO had a slack seat tube angle already and by putting a taller fork on it will make it slacker yet. Not great for the pedaling position for me.

I want it a bit more slack but more travel would be nice, Iím not sure I have the right bike for it but Iíd like to try out enduro racing. I bought the bike because the price was right. Iím doing some trail and error trying to see what things I like and donít on the bike

You might be better off getting another bike for the enduro stuff. The newer Rip RDO that I also have would be a better frame tinker with. Jenson USA is blowing out the alum. Rip 9 with a 160 mm fork for $1299 or frame only for $1249. Do you know if your fork can go to 160 mm with the air spring? The damper side might not extend that far?

Itís about a $50 mod right? Try it out for enduro racing. Worse case your out 50 bucks

I have 140mm air shaft for my new Jet for trail riding and a 130mm for XC. I just need to get the socket from Fox so I can swap it out myself and not have to have my shop do it.

I have considered going as much as 150mm for trail. Which is prob too slack and make the reach too short. And 120mm for racing. Which is prob too step making the BB too low

Well I gave it a shot, new tires and the extra 20mm of travel itís like a whole new bike, and I love the t so far. I have only ridden about 12 miles so far. The front end doesnít wander any more than before. The more slack head angle is great it plows through anything and is more stable. With the max is minion dhf/dhr 29x2.30 it earns its name sake and really rips now.

Got to love inexpensive mods that transform a bike. Good for you! Report back after an enduro race.

Looks like you have a Niner version of the Ibis Ripmo
