    2010 Niner Jet 9 - help needed...

When coronavirus hit I thought it would be a good idea to completely take apart my bike, clean it, and look at replacing some parts. What started out as replacing my pivot bearings went from pivot bearings to replacing my shock, to replacing my fork, to replacing my wheels. Now, I think I’m going to also try and replace my drivetrain. My frame is a 2010 Niner Jet 9. I really like my frame, and don’t want to replace that.

I would like to go to a 1x12 setup, but I have questions... Shifter, chain, and cassette (10-50) seem easy enough. The derailleur seems easy as well, there appears to only be one size and I’m assuming that will work. Where I need help with is the crankset. With DUB, is there now just one crankset option and “it just works” with whatever BB shell size you have, provided you have the right bottom bracket? In my case that would be BSA correct? What about Boost, does that even matter? Would a Boost crankset work?

Anyone out there running 1x12 or a similar setup on a 2010 Niner Jet 9?

DUB was designed to be a universal crankset, so you just have to get the correct DUB BB for your frame and you can use a DUB crankset. There is no difference between a boost crankset and non-boost. BUT, the chainring has a different offset for a wider chainline. So if you buy a boost crankset, you will have to replace the chainring with a non-boost one, or you will have some serious cross chaining when in the 50T cog.
