Would like to find an erea/trail to bike camp before summer ends. Any suggestions? Would be willing to go to neighboring state for better opportunity. Any ideas

Do you want to haul all your gear on your bike? Or car camping with trails nearby

Want to hall with me. Have been looking at a lightweight tent and will try to go 10-15 pounds. Any ideas?

If you're looking for campgrounds with intermediate-advanced xc single track, there's some options on long island. Cathedral pines has a dozen miles of single track with some advanced features, and a huge camp with amenities. 4 Miles or so north on the same road (riding distance with cycling signs!) is Rocky Point trails, almost 20 miles of fast and flowy single track with some fun black diamond sections.

They're both listed in mtbr's trail listing. Cathedral is open to anyone (but cheaper if you have a "green key"). Rocky Point needs a Dec permit, but that's free and takes 5 minutes online, so no biggie. Maps, directions, and links to permits are available from the local trail builders/maintainers, www.climbonline.org

Thanks for info. Will likely try this setting before actual bike packing (ride in carrying small tent). There may not be this type of opportunity near NY
