    Ant Hill in Stewart

Hey, I recently approached Ant Hill from the dammed pond side off Krahn Lane and it was plastered with Encon No Bicycles signs. Does anyone know what that's about? It's been cleared of all the deadfall from that almost a tornado event for some time now.

Ant Hill isnt an authorized trail so they dont want you there. I heard they were going to make a re-route there but all trail work has been put on hold at the moment.

Weird. There are (sporadic) trail marker disks. It's less marshy than a number of Stewart trails. I wonder what the problem is.

The Ant Hill Trail isnt entirely within the State Park land and it was never an official trail (its not on "official" trail maps). Stewart trails were almost all made by motorcycles so they werent done with DEC blessings. Ant Hill also ends up next to the police shooting range at one end so I think they want to keep the public away from that area also.
This is a great trail so I hope they can re-establish it.
