    Norco, my Little Sh!t

This is Norco, named after my last bike but we mostly call him Little Sh!t because he's so hyper. Biking is the only way to almost wear him out and he love's it! He's a giant (28-30lb) Rat Terrier and about 5 years old. Whenever I start to crest a hill he instinctively runs ahead to get a head start to try to beat me on the downhill (that little sh!t !). He also likes riding the lifts and and downhilling with us.

My 4 yo border collie Roxie loves to run with the bikes. She is an accomplished mtb dog at this point, and is my 24/7 companion.

Great thread Ramon! I am going to get a dog soon and I want a dog that will go on rides with me, but not be insanely hyper when at home. I grew up with a border collie that I loved. Also thinking about a cattle dog. Any tips on a good breed?

You got a good one there, Ramon. If you're gonna go purebred, Airedales are a great choice for a sturdy, intelligent companion. I'm betting this summer I'll get a chance to meet him, and Roxie, too! It's past time to get back down to Bill's neighborhhod.

Thanks Tim! I pretty much have to run, walk chewy every day to get the energy out of him otherwise his full of him self at home..I'm hoping he'll settle down a bit here in the next year! Dogs are cool but are ever cooler when you can ride with them..good luck on finding a trail doggy...if you came down to town to ride, hit me up!

    Awesome! Rez is jelly!

RM is a cool place to take the dogs, but also really easy for them to get turned around. It's good that he stays close by you.

Here's the aftermath of a ride with Rezzy. We did the Bando Loop, then Stairway to Hell that day. He was pupped...er, pooped! !

I ride my Farley EX8 with my 3 Golden Retrievers 3-5 days a week on a 6 mile loop by my house, riding an old abandoned railroad grade, a big open field, and a fun old deer trail through the woods. They love it and I have a blast too. I would never take them on the local mountain bike trails though since a) it's rude and b) it's illegal.

You obviously aren't local, then. For all intents and purposes, RM is not a local MTB romp. Thanks for your comments, though! I probably would not take 3 large dogs on local trails either, unless it's during a time that the trails won't be too crowded. For the most part, locals don't take issue with dogs as long as they mind their own business.
