    Taos Northside

Anybody know what's happening with Taos Northside now that it's been sold? Is there currently mtb access? Thanks!

Thanks. Thought things were changing with new ownership? That link has mtb access open until Sept 30 2019, was wondering if anyone knew beyond that? I'll be up there around Oct 20, was hoping to check it out.

Northside closed for the season September 30th. We don't know what the new owner's plans are, from what I've heard it sounds like there's a strong possibility the trails will be open again in the future. If you're looking for some high elevation rides when you're here check out the Lost Lake and East Fork trails accessed from Red River, when there's no snow on the ground that's one of the best rides around. Also the South Boundary shuttle should be running till then if conditions are dry.

Thanks for the info! Is there any riding that can be accessed directly from the ski valley? I'm fine with dirt roads and lots of climbing, as long as the views are good.

With wilderness areas north and south of the Village of TSV this is just about it after September; https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/7032683/kachina-road

The ski area has some short flow trails by the Pioneer lift and a few roads on the mountain, they're effectively closed when winter ops and snowmaking starts.

Bull of the Woods trail is an option for about 2 miles from the main parking lot to where it crosses onto the Northside property and heads towards Wheeler Peak. It's steep and rocky with a some good views, if you like pushing your bike uphill and riding back down that might be worthwhile. The high point is a meadow along the saddle between Bull of the Woods Mountain and Gold Hill that's not within the wilderness, some primitive campsites are established and there's a yurt available for nightly rentals; https://southwestnordiccenter.com/yu...-woods-summer/

Plans are in the works to build a trail linking Bull of the Woods with the Middle Fork/Lost Lake/East Fork network. Enchanted Circle Trails Association and the TMBA group have started working on making that actually happen, might take a few years. The route will probably cross onto the slopes east of the yurt, there's kind of an old miners' trail there overtaken by nature and dropping towards a forest road that's now on private property.
