    Moon. Sunset. City.

I'll throw in one from last week.
Its a little unique as it captured the Moon, Sunset, & City all in one shot.

Beautiful shots, gentlemen! I wish I could witness that mountainous scenery around here...nothing but flats for us.

But we do get nice, symetrical horizons...this is just outside of Melrose when I was on my way up to the Querq...it lasted for about 15 seconds, and I caught it just right. I call it, "Fire Sky."

Summer sunset silhouetting the Robledos on the left and the Dona Anas on the right.

Bonus picture: the sun getting low over Picacho Peak during one of our wonderful spring sandstorms.

Road, mountain, commute, CX... who cares? Shut up and ride!

    Nicely captured.

What camera do you carry for these?

Thanks! The last two I used a Nikon D700 with a 16-35mm lens.

OK its not a sunset. But its close enough. And location is obvious. Pic was taken 10-20-2012 at 6:22am. The trick was to not fall into the gorge getting to the spot.

    RoundRock,

I think this is my favorite photo on this thread. Awesome, just awesome! Would you mind sharing particulars(ISO, shutter speed, f-stop)? I love that the exposure was long enough to capture the bridge and stars alll without blowing the clouds out. Any more for us?

    Thanks

Yea I was supprised that the bridge and the stars came out. It might of been the street lights from the rest stop that did it for the bridge. There was no moon and it was dark dark dark that morning.

This single frame shot was Nikon D800 F4 30sec iso200 24mm. Later in the morning I was able to get some f11 iso100 shots in. Converted the raw and post processed in lightroom 4. Ill look at my LR4 history to find out what I did to the shot. I know it was not much. I think I just knocked down the highlights and cooled off the color. Then used the brush to sharpen the bridge and cloud.

OK I have two more shots to go along with the one already posted. These are along the lines of "the sky is on fire" as mentioned in the first post. Forgive me for butting in with my sunrise instead of a sunset.

Not sure exactly what the closures impact. From the City website:

"At 8 a.m. Friday, June 29, the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County will go into a partial closure of the Bosque.

In a meeting with Fire Departments and Land Management Agencies throughout the Rio Grande Valley, it was collectively decided that greater fire restrictions were needed to protect the Rio Grande Bosque.

    Be Alert
Citizens can still enjoy the Bosque by staying on the established paths and levee roads. We depend on the citizens to be our eyes and ears along the Bosque to report suspicious activity or fires.

The partial closure does not apply to Open Space areas of the Sandia Foothills or West Mesa Grasslands."
What I don't know is how they define an "established path." All the trails I ride in there are established. In fact, how else would you access the bosque? I don't often see people traipsing randomly through the underbrush. A friend who works for Fish and Wildlife told me he thought it restricted access to anything but the levees.

    Anyone know more?

In/on/near/around Angel Peak and Bloomfield. There's a number of one hitters out in the BLM. Probably not worth the drive to ride and seek from here, but I was actually on a photo mission with a non-riding buddy. Took the bike "just in case", ya know...

Thanks for the taste of home.. it's been 2 weeks since I've seen the sun here - it's all heavy rain/snow clouds and fog from dawn to dusk.

But the locals have a saying, "Es gibt kein schlechtes Wetter, nur schlechte Kleidung."

Which basically translates to, "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes." A good excuse to get new gear!

Get used to hearing the phrase "Es ist seimlich mild" for the next few years. Translation "the weather is going to suck."

I recommend southern Italy/France/Spain or the Gran Canaries as an escape to see the sun.

I haven't seen the sun set for weeks, it goes from dreary gray to ink black before 4:30PM now these days. A fitting time for a hearty dark beer.. here's my current favorite Belgian, Rembrandt style.
