    Placitas

Did I somehow miss the mention of 1/4 of the trail miles at Placitas being lost now that the entire west loop is being enclosed by barbed wire?

Yea, was out there a week or two ago and saw it being put up, with branches over the trail. Wondering what was going on.....?

It's the result of a land exchange with the Sandia Pueblo. The exchange has been in process for over a decade and was finally completed. The trails that were cut off will be rerouted eventually.

Is rerouting the trails or even riding up there safe considering the threats received from a specific trail user?

Isn't making threats of physical violence a crime? Shouldn't this person be arrested?

Does anyone know if the barbed wire is still on the ground, or if it's been strung up yet? Only interested in the most up to date info.

How is shooting cyclists a form of self punishment?

And what does political affiliation have to do with it?

I'm assuming that the trails got a fair amount of snow recently?

Could someone post when the red clay is rideable? I like to be able to ride all the existing trails when I go out there, but not too keen on finding out for myself that turning right on the road after High Voltage to get up to the top of Chalk Dust is going to result in adobe bike.

Seems that if all the shaded clay on High Voltage is not slippery/sticky then everything else is reasonably good to go.

    Also, I prefer dry-rideable, not frozen-rideable.

    TIA

I rode out there Sunday, it was a bit muddy in short little spots, but really not to bad. Chalk dust had some surface mud and frozen spots but was still pretty fast. A couple of muddy doors in the climb up by they were short. Bobsled and area was just muddy in one or two tiny places. Given two dry days in between now and then, I'm thinking it is likely pretty good to go.

Saw tim up there today as we were heading out late. wanted to stop and thank him for the hard work, but all I could do was run over a cactus.
We had the little one and not enough time for a loop.'
    thanks tim.
