    Pics from Fall in L.A.

We rode up Perimeter, up Mitchell, down Guaje Ridge, and down Cabra today. Going up Mitchell requires a lot of hike-a-bike but is presently the quickest way to descend the half of Guaje that's open. Next time I think I'll do this in reverse but not many people like descending Mitchell (I do ).

Here's the Google map of our route: 2011-10-22 Mitchel Guaje Cabra - Google Maps

    And some Pics:

Headed up Perimeter to get to Mitchell:

40 degree nights followed by 70 degree days, the air carries a hint of pinon fireplace smoke, pumpkin ales on tap, snow dusting the higher elevations, and the cottonwoods along the Rio Grande bosque trails change to a shimmering sea of yellow-gold..

Yep. It's sad. I used to ride Guaje Ridge when there were no views to take in, due to all the trees.
The good thing is, that LA trails still thrive and they have some of the best riding in the state, regardles of the fires that have hit that area. The trails are so diverse and prolific and the community embraces the concept of real, challenging mountain trails. That place is a gem.

    Hey Neal,
Thanks for the pics. Good stuff. We were up in LA last Friday for an XC meet with the kids. With all your town has been through, we were amazed at how warm and hospitable everyone was. Great town you live in.

Thanks Neal; Rick and I did that loop this afternoon - very nice! It'd been years since I'd been up Mitchell, and there's much more that's rideable than I recall. Probably 80 - 90%! This time of year, the shadows of the mesas from up on the ridge are so nice, and go on forever. Thanks for the stoke and the tip! It helped mellow me out & steel me for the crowds before taking the daughter to Trick or Treat on Mainstreet this evening.

We rejoice in our suffering, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character.

Glad you enjoyed it Joe! We ate at El Parasol last night and the trick or treat traffic was nuts. Right now we're just hours away from Sedona ). Riding there today and tomorrow am before we go setup our booth in Vegas for aapex/sema week.
