    Glorieta Bike Season

What are conditions like during the winter months? When are the trails usually rideable?

I rode there last weekend. Super fun stuff! Some really big moves in places. If it doesn't snow much this winter, it will be THE place to ride, for sure! If it snows, all bets are off--soil out there has significant caliche which translates into MUD city!!!

You can go to the main gate at the Center to see if you can enter (normally with bikes that the guard can see, they will let you through the gate---then park at the RV parking), or there is a new connector trail from the old church at the exit from I-25 and HWY 50. Not sure how secure vehicles would be at the church, as Pecos has some fairly significant property crimes. If you park there, make sure NOTHING of value is visible in your vehicle!!!

I've always just gone through the gate and parked inside the camp. Use code "123" on the gate if there's no guard - the phone will ring and you'll need to meet up with someone to sign a waiver if you haven't done that before.

Like beastmaster said, probably going to be off-limits if there's any snow or moisture in the area. Until then...have fun!

I was also curious, so I called. The girl on the phone wasn't super confidence-inspiring but she said all the trails are fine.

I'm a little worried about mud/snow at the higher elevations, but i guess it's worth a shot.

Thanks for the info! I was thinking along those lines, given the bits of snow left around at ~7000ft. I'm hoping Chili Dog and the other trails on that side will be decent. Heading out there on Friday, so I'll report back with my findings.

There is no snow on the ground as of now. It will be the same by Friday. Saturday and Sunday another system comes into the area so after Sunday afternoon, all bets are off. Hopefully we will get SNOW!
