All of the trails in Farmington are good to go. So Alien is unrideable? Was hoping to get there Saturday...

As of Monday A.M Alien was no go, haven't tried again. I might possibly try again Fri A.M. if I make it I'll post conditions.

Thanks, that would help out in the planning department for the weekend ride.

I live close to Alien, still pretty muddy out here. So, I bypassed Alien and rode the Apple instead, which was in good shape.

I figured as much - going to do the RAR on Saturday and head on over to Pinion Mesa for Sunday.

    Thanks dezzrat!

Any recent updates on alien or RAR? Not sure if they cleared up after a week of warmer temps? Probably need longer.

Up top on the West side trail is bad in spots, Rigor is a mess right now, with the only time to ride is while it is frozen, same with Seven Sisters. The trails need another week, if not longer, to fully dry out before it is actually ride-able again. Anasazi will dry out first with the rest of RAR not too far behind.f

Anasazi is dry. Started riding the next trail (not sire of name - new here) which was initially dry, but ran into some mud. Turned around to avoid trail damage.

Anyone know if pinion mesa or alien is dry? Looks like rain is coming and would like to get in a quickie today.

I just got back from Pinion Mesa, and it was brutal. Conditions are dry with only one wash that you need to circumvent, however, the trail is extremely soft. This made riding tough as I had to pedal to keep momentum going, even in most of the downhill sections we were having to push through the trail. Best as I could describe it is riding through fresh snow. One hell of a workout, but it made the gravy lumpy....

We got a light rain last night, hopefully the breeze helps dry things quickly. The trails are smoothing out nicely, but the west side of RAR is getting sandy.

Headed to Barker Dome for the first time this coming Saturday, I am really looking forward to checking this place out!

Take your time at Barker, it's fun, different and a little bit difficult to navigate, you'll have a blast. My favorite riding in that part of the state.

Rode Alien this AM, did the short loop trail in good shape with only a few damp spots mostly on the North side, wind was brutal.

I haven't been out there in almost six months, really excited to get back out there once conditions have improved.

Glad to hear Alien is rideable. Heading there today.

Quick question cause I am new here... What is the story with motocycles at RAR? I ran into a whole flock of *******s on motorcycles just beyond the whoops heading towards 574. They did a number on the trails.

Motos are allowed on all parts of RAR except areas marked private property and anasazi. Mountain view and alien are the only other mtb designated trails. Becareful out there.

Anybody know if the alien race is usac governed? Was hoping to not have to get a license.

I got an email three weeks ago announcing the race, but everything on the website is TBD. It may be like the RAR where you have to purchase a one day license to race. I didn't get to ride it last year due to the Mrs. birthday falling on that day, so I am looking forward to checking out the new format this year, that is, if they ever post up any information. www.alienrun.com

Any updates on Alien? RAR / Seven Sisters / Rigor are all good to go.

Heard from a friend that Alien is good-to-go (at least the initial loop).
I'm headed down this weekend to check it out

RAR looks fine after rain. Was not enough to really make much mud.

    Anyone know how Alien faired?

Well, with the stupid winds we are going to get today, there is a good chance the the trail will be ok for tomorrow, at least I hope.

Silly newbie to the area question: does anyone know of any long sustained doubletrack/fireroad/gravel climbs in the area? Doing some training for whiskey 50 and need a bit more elevation. I looked at the map and saw a Mt. Nebi outside of Aztec (near co border...). Thx!
