    Calaveras Canyon-Cebolla Canyon ride

Did a nice 14 mile loop today with the Tuff riders up Calaveras Canyon, across pipeline road to Cebolla canyon, down Cebolla canyon and then back to the cars. It was a beautiful ride through meadowed canyon bottoms with evergreen lined canyon walls. There were loads of funky rock formations to offer addional viewing pr0n. The trail was singletrack/reverted two track with a few miles of pipeline road (it's just as crappy here as in Los Alamos) and a short FR rode to and from the Seven Springs Fish hatchery where we parked. The bulk of the trail is rarely used...the singletrack is very faint, and at times becomes picking your way among meadow grass. Doubtful you'll see a footprint or a treadmark on this ride.

    Riding up Calaveras canyon

Some rock pr0n that we rode by

    Another shot of Calaveras canyon

    Some more funky rocks

Then down Cebolla canyon. It was a bit wider and more open than Calaveras Canyon.

The trail down Cebolla canyon follows a flowing stream that runs year-round

The stream then feeds into this lake near the bottom

If you haven't been out to the Jemez just exploring around, I suggest going. It it's truely spectacular. It's unbelievable that trails like this go almost unused....

Wow, that's great. I love it up here in the JMZ. Some of the stuff I rode today (see Slice of Heaven post) was also faint from lack of use. I guess it is a mixed blessing; nice not having the crowds, but with too little use the trails vanish.

    Thanks for sharing.
