    Anyone doing the 2017 Tommyknocker?

If so, I hope to see you out there tomorrow or at Little Toad tonight for packet pickup. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we'll have a mild weather experience like last year. It's going to be a cool start and likely fairly breezy.

Also, we've had a bunch of precipitation this winter so the trails are still muddy in spots are we will likely be dealing with a few creek crossings and running water. Not bad for a typical ride, but tough on the drivetrain over the course of ten hours.

Either way, we should still have fun. I'll look at posting pictures on this thread following the race.

The day job is keeping me away this time, but I wish good luck and good times to everyone there.

Thanks and no worries. I just completed my last lap. This was an extraordinarily challenging race. There were about a dozen creek crossings per lap accented by large stretches of muddy trail. The sunrise temperatures hovered around 17-19F, making for a cold start and we had winds around 15-20 with gusts to around 30.

It was kind of a suck fest but I'm glad I went. I'll try to post a few pictures either tonight or tomorrow.

I didn't race but you're right, conditions there have been pretty rough with all the snowmelt and the winds have really kicked up recently. I rode there a few days ago and my feet were soggy and cold by the end of the ride, was just a bit nicer today. Hope you had booties!

One of about ten creek crossings per lap.

Drivetrain TLC was definitely in order during this race.

Indeed. Looks like we may be getting more snow on Tuesday. It's been a unique winter and I'm grateful for the water, but I'm ready to get on with warmer weather and dry trails. Unfortunately, I didn't have booties but the wool socks kept me from completely freezing.

Same here, it's getting a little old having to do a complete clean & tune after every ride. Did you race solo?

Yeah. I prefer to race solo and suffer alone. Actually, most of these races are pretty social regardless of how you ride, but I like the solo experience where I'm completely accountable to myself.
