mtb & camp around Austin or Ely mem wknd?

On our way out to fruita/moab, my friends and I are thinking of spending a day or two camping in either Austin or Ely and getting a few mtb rides in.

Can anyone recommend campsites and trails in those areas? hopefully, avoiding rv campsites.
Do you think the campsite will fill up memorial day weekend? We won't be arriving until Saturday evening.

    thanks in advance

Cave Lake State Park about 14 miles south of Ely would be good.... but will probably fill up memborial day weekend. Ward Mountain Rec area 6 miles Southwest of Ely on US 6 at Murry Summit is probably a better bet. More trails and less chance of filling up.

Dave, if you camp at Ward Mountain check out the G Loop (written up in the Nevada trails reviews.) G Loop is a great trail on its own, although short - but there's a new connector that expands the fun factor exponentially, leading to a trail system that dumps into the town itself.

Also, you can go here for some GPS info on other cool Ely trails: http://www.motosapiens.net/trails.html

KRob's the expert, I'm just a fan - but there's plenty of supercool riding around Ely.
Don't ask me a question unless you really want to hear what I think.
