Warning: HAL6 Derailleur hangers NOT available!

I bent my rear derailleur hanger on my HAL6 Team 12 last night. I contacted Bikes Direct service this morning and was told that the hangers are not available because they have not been received from the factory yet.

I asked what to do in the meantime and was told they would let me know when they were available (no timeline though).

I purchased my bike 10 months ago and they don't have the replacement part available yet? It's finally riding season again and my bike is out of commission until they get around to stocking the part.

Between my wife and I we have purchased seven! bikes from bikesdirect.com, but given this experience, I cannot recommend you purchase a HAL6. An unavailable $20 part is making my $2500 bike unrideable.

The best thing I can do is keep your email on file and once they arrive let you know. I am sorry but this is my only option to get you a replacemnt hanger at this time.
So apparently we're out of commission for two months.

None of the available spares from wheels manufacturing or hangers.com wrong work? Do you have a picture of one?

Hangers #340 and #424 from derailleurhanger.com look like they're the closest, but not exact matches.Warning: HAL6 Derailleur hangers NOT available!-20170425_124958.jpg

I'm going to give them a shot. Thanks for the heads-up on the universal one - that might get me rolling a little, too.

I wonder if Wheels Manufacturing could make a direct replacement part if they had the specs?

That universal one sounds like it's only for quick release skewers, not the thru axels on the Hal6.

Damn - that is some BS. Kind of shitty that there's not a replacement option. It's not like these things JUST came out.

Bikesdirect.com just came through - for me. They're sending me a take-off hanger off another bike.

That works for me, but just be warned for other HAL6 users - it will be 2 months before they have hangers in stock.

That's great news - glad they are helping you out. Eases my anxiety about messing mine up a little bit :-D

Not to say "Doh", but you should always have a spare hanger. I ordered mine when I bought my HAL 6 a few months back... Now that I have it, I am sure never to bend the stock one!

Through BD, a few days after I ordered the bike. Took about 5 days to arrive CA if I remember correctly. I think it was about $20 with free shipping.

Whenever I buy a frame/bike I ALWAYS order an extra RD with it.

Seems like a good idea - now if only they were readily available when I got mine. Will definitely be grabbing one as soon as possible.

I'm curious if that's identical to the Hal5 Comp one?

Do you happen to have a picture of the Hal6 replacement hanger that you got from BD? I asked to purchase on and they asked me to send a pic so they did verify they are sending the right one.

    Cheers,

They indicated it's #40 on this page: Derailleur Hangers And Thru-Axles for Bicycles, Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes, Hybrid, Comfort and More Save Up to 60% Off New Bikes

We will see how it looks once it gets here...

Here's a picture of the other side of the one I posted above. Looks like #43.Warning: HAL6 Derailleur hangers NOT available!-20170425_124946.jpg

That's what I thought when I saw that picture - I asked them to send the correct one instead.

What a pain in the ass :-D

Not too hard to just pull your derailleur and double-check. Take off the rear wheel and it's one bolt.

I did - and it's the same. I was out of town when they emailed me back about the replacement, which was why a pic helped out!

Number 43 is the correct hanger, they updated the order and it's on the way.

Thanks again for the help on this.

Hal 6 hangar is 29.95. That constitutes hwy robbery in my mind and now I know how they make their money.
