Two Motobecane bikes. Comparo thoughts please??

    I'm at 230Lbs and 5'11" with about 33" inseam.

I ride mostly local trails to max maybe medium rough terrain once in a while. Rides are casual/exercise.

    1. Would 19" be a better fit or would a 21" be better?

    2. I'm looking at these two bikes:

    Motobecane Fantom HT PRO

    and the

    Motobecane 29er Fantom PRO 29

The HT Pro seems to be better kitted out over the 29 Fantom Pro but is a 26 incher.

Can the experts kindly offer some thoughts and guidance?

Also, any pointers to discussions between 26" and 29" (of course I will try searching as well!)

    EDIT: Added links.

Sorry, my post count is less than 10 and I am not yet allowed to post hyperlinks. But a copy paste of the above URLs should work. Thanks.

EDIT: Just realized this was my 10th post. Fixed the original post to add hyperlinks!

19" , bigger guy's (and gals) usually wind up liking 29ers, I know I do. Big wheels sure roll nice.

    Thanks.

    Drivetrain - Full XTR versus XTR/XT + DynaSys ??

If I were to got with XTR/XT + DynaSys and DIY upgrade to Full XTR Drivetrain, how much incremental am I looking at ball park after resale on the XT?

The resale on your drivetrain is not going to be that good since it will bring near used prices. Buy what you want, upgrading gets expensive very quickly.

Honestly I am torn between the two as you can tell.

I like the full XTR setup on the 26" HT Pro but the 29er is a 29er, has XTR DynaSys rear and XT+DynaSys rest.

Overall, the latter seems to be a better fit, although I cannot quantify how much I lose (or gain) with Full XTR on the 26" but with no DynaSys

I should have picked up the 19/21 on the 29er yesterday when they were available. Both sizes are gone now although they do have the 26" HT Pro. It's all XTR but no DynaSys and is not a 29er -

When all else fails, go with the better fit.

29er definitely. If you are a normal proportioned person the 19" will probably fit better. I am 5'10" and ride a 17.5" frame. A 21 would probably have you stretched out uncomfortably far.

I'm exactly 5' 10" with 33" inseam and ride a 19" Monocog and all my bikes have been either 18 or 19 in. Even the 19" COG is slightly big and needed a 85mm stem to fit right. Go 19" because the 21" will surely be too big and normally 29er will seem a bit bigger than a 26er in the same size.
    26FS & 29Rigid... best of both worlds
