outcast 29 33t swap, crank talk

hi, i apologize in advance for the n00b question.

i have an outcast29 and i want to swap the 33t chainring on instead of the default 42t. how do you take out the links in the chain? or will i need a new chain?

also, has anyone tried longer cranks on this bike? i'm 6'0 with a 19" and i was thinking of trying 180mm cranks.

    thanks

You will need to take a few links out of the chain if you swap down to the 33t. To accomplish this you will need a chain breaker which is pretty easy to use and comes with instructions. They are relatively inexpensive. If you are not sure about how to do it or not comfortable just take the bike into your LBS and have them do it for you. It should be pretty cheap.
I am running the stock cranks on my Outcast which is a 15" frame and get pretty close to foot rub on the front wheel (toe overlap). I'm thinking that 180's may be a little tight for you.
