Newb need sizing help for 29er Motobecane Fantom

    Hello,
I am completely new to buying a bike. Especially online, my last bike had zero suspension and I had zero idea of sizing.

I have a 29" - 30" inseam and am about 5'9". I can read the geometry but a little confirmation would be greatly appreciated.

    This is the bike

I fall into the same category, but I am 5’ 8” with a 29” inseam. What you need to look at is stand over height. Motobecane’s geometry is not real forgiving if you don’t have an inseam over ~ 32”. I have to go with the smallest one to obtain even the smallest of clearance standing over the top tube, and if you’re a newbie at mountain biking you will be spending much time in that position. I have the 2010 Fantom Pro 26er and with my fork it has 29” stand over, which puts me on my toes.

Make sure you have stand over clearance and you can always adjust seat posts, stems, and bars.

I have the smallest frame (13" I think?) . I'm 5'4" with a 30" inseam. Bikedirect's measurements are dead on. I was also worried I should have gone up a size, but that would've been a mistake and it definitely would have been too tall.

    Trust their sizing, imo.
