    Frame and fork question

Recently purchased this frame and was told it was a FLY 9357 frame. Got the frame today and weighted it at 3.4lbs. I'm assuming that it's actually a Fantom frame since the Fly is quoted as being 2.8lbs? If it is a Fantom what is the ideal fork length for the frame? I see a lot of the Fantom framed HT using 120-130mm forks on bikes direct.

I found what looks like your frame on Bikes Island (BD parts site) it says Fly geometry, it doesnt' list the weight.. Good Luck with your build..

No it is a Fly. I had a Fly in 18" and it was about 3.5 lbs. BD, just like most bike companies, like to claim lower weights for marketing reasons. When you buy a complete bike how are you going to know it isn't 2.8lbs? So you go around riding your Fly thinking the frame is 2.8lbs, until you take the bike apart and weigh the frame like I did. The Fantom is probably closer to 4 lbs.

    Cool, thanks for the help.

I'll start with the forks set 100mm and see how it goes from there.

Sorry but the cables on the fly run on the bottom of the top tube. The chain stay also curves more severely . You got a fantom frame.

I just compared large pics of the fly frame and fantom frame bikes off bike direct and you're correct. My frame matches the fantom frame exactly and there are a few key spots to show it.

Well, I did get it together and my fork is set at 100mm. Right now it's pretty twitchy and I'm wondering if I should switch it to 120mm. Does anyone know what the fantom usually come set at?
