    DS700 shifter encroaching on handgrips

I've been riding my DS700 for about a month now. Though I have nothing to compare it with (my first mountain bike since my '93 Diamondback Ascent Es), I'm quite happy with my choice. The only criticism I have of its design is that the shifters (the ones pulled with the index finger) encroach quite a bit on handle grips. Though I have a small hand, there is not enough room on the handle grips to place my hand comfortably. Likewise, there is not enough room to place my index finger between the shifter and the handle grip. Since nonone has raised this point, I wonder if my shifters are not set right. Any ideas on this one?

    Thanks,
    Andrew

I haven't had a chance to compare your shifter placement with mine, but it appears that yours is set about 1" closer to center. I'll try the same and see what happens. Thanks for the pics.
