    Buy new chain?

I bought the Fantom 29er and it came with "Z9000 super narrow 9 speed" chain. I've been reading bad things about it. Should I get a new chain? Any recommendations?

    Thanks in advance.

I read alot of bad things, about alot of things, you need to carry a chain tool/spare master link, but you probably already have them.

I would ride it until it breaks or stretches too much. No reason to throw it out right away. Just get a replacement chain with a quick link/power link and chain tool, just in case the worse happens.

Well, some of the stories I read mentioned that the chain broke and took the derailleur and a few wheel spokes with it.

I rode mine pretty heavy for about 1,000 miles before I replaced it with a PC991.

Still have it as a spare.

do you ride uphill often that puts a lot of torque on the chain?

Mine made it through a season of Colorado racing with no issues.
