    2014 429HT upgrade hel-

Hello folks. I bought a 429HT 29er last year. Overall I like the bike minus some components like the fork and cranks. This past month I have been trying to decide whether I want to keep and upgrade the bike or just buy a new brand name bike.

What are your opinions on upgrading this bike? I'll be upgrading the fork, crankset (1x10 I think), rims, and smaller items like the seatpost and handle bars. Things I will keep are the brakes, shifters, brake levers, as I have had no issue with them.

I guess I'm just wondering if this frame is worth keeping with upgrades versus looking at Treks, Cdale, Salsa etc.

You could always upgrade the frame to something like a Canfield Yelli Screamy(drool) Swap over the stuff you are keeping....grab some closeout deals on a fork, crank, etc and have a really sweet bike that is specced out how you want it to be. There are lots of deals on 2015 components now that the 16s are out. Just a thought.

Upgradeitis is a horrible disease. I caught it, but it wasn't full blown. Upgraded parts on my gravity 29er as they wore out. After a recon fork, handlebar, and crankset, I was in more than a more expensive bike would have been. If your parts are worn out, upgrade away. If they're still good, upgrade anyway.

The frame is equivalent to the hardrock or other base level bikes. Not lightweight, but good.
