    Schwinn Moab 1 question

    Hi guys!

Please enlightened me. A friend has this frame and I'm planning to buy it. Just can't find any info about this frame..my question are:

1.) Moab 1 frame is oversized?
    2.) Is disc brake ready?

    Thank you in advance.

No, (late 90's version?) was not disc ready.

    Depends on the year.

2001 Moab 1 Disk...I hated the headset. ICBM. Sold a Brand New Homegrown for this very reason.

Unless your friend is willing to give it to you, you are better off spending your money on something more current. Moab was average at best 15 years ago, and bike frames are not like wine...

I have a 98 Moab 1.... Still my main ride for now...if you can get it at a good price it will still be a great bike...mine has a XTR/XT mix....many upgrades over the years....I'm getting a new bike next week but I'm still keeping the Moab.... Might turn it into a single speed...

    Converted my '96 Moab 3 (stock 26") to 29" (700c) capable,
i.e. can still run the 26" wheels as an option.
This was done by modding steering and brakes:

*swapping the entire steering column for rigid/threaded, and

    *swapping the stock canti-brakes,
    for extra-long V-brakes (125mm arms, 44mm of adjust)

1999 Schwinn Moab 1 - New and Used Bike Value

I still have my Schwinn Moab. I have added some upgrades in the past year to bring it up to 'fighting weight' while I saved up for my new MTB. I has treated me well. It is a quick, maneuverable bike, but I'm quickly learning to love my new bike.

p.s. I don't plan on getting rid of the Moab.
