    Wisconsin DH riders

We (riven downhill) will be working with WORS on the gravity events (DH and D/S or D-X) of the subaru cup. The event is planned for the weekend of June 14th and 15th 2008.

The DH sponsors are really coming together to help us out with the prize purse. E-13, Titec, EVS, Nema, and Crank Brothers have all agreed to help us out.

Nordic MTN will also be opened for biking this year and we should be getting some more DH oriented trails done before the race.

as i will update as more info becomes final

How far from madison is this place? I didn't think there any DH stuff in WI untill you went way up north. I'm pretty sure I have heard the place though? It's like straight nort of madison though and west of Oshkosh, yes?

What will the trails be like? Got any descriptions?

    Good job!

    Sweet!

I just moved to Wi and glad to hear they have DH. I will do my best to make it up on some weekends and help build and try to make the race as well.

    See you then..

we will be working with the owner of nordic on biking as soon as the ski season comes to a close.
we have a pretty good idea of what we would like to get done by the race, so hopefully it all goes well.
last year we mentioned getting an additional weekend or two of lift access, other than the race. the owner seemed pretty ok with the thought but we would need to work out the ins. end of it and see if there would be enough of a demand to justify it.
the trails will be open year-round for hike-a-bike regardless (don and the WORS crew have a really nice x-c course there also)
also, the link to our message board will get you there but you will need to register to use it. (it only took 1 week for the porn spammers to find it so i had to switch the registration on)

wait so it's only open for the race? Or what did you mean by an additional 2 weeks of lift access?

The trails will be open all summer with Hike-A-Bike access, we talked to him about running the lifts for an extra weekend or two during the summer (besides the race) for lift assisted "freeriding" but we have a lot to work on before that will happen.

there is a road up to the county park on top, but it comes in from the other side. the hill isn't huge so i would think it would be easier and faster to hike-a-bike. when we are out there working we are allowed to drive on the hill but i don't want to abuse the priveledge. The ski hill is actually county land that is leased to nordic. the owner has been great to work with and has done a lot to get the county to allow biking there.

well even shuttle to the top of the hill and then bike alittle across the top wouldnt be bad, im just lazy thats all, and well if some people come out to build there might be some guinea pigging going on to test some stuff multiple times lol

anyway thats totally sweet, i will have to check it out, do you need any help for building come spring?, im in oshkosh at school till around may and thats just a hop, skip and jump away compared to mad-town

due to more interest in this than i had planned, here is a link to a web page with all the info about the DH race and the Nordic Mtn. Bike Park that is finalized. There are more details in the works, but they are not a sure thing yet. The page will be updated as more info becomes available.

I forgot about Mt Morris. The race weekend there in 07 got hammered by rain and we were lucky to have pulled off the XC on Saturday before the rest of the races were cancelled. It should be a good course for bikes with long travel.
Authorities speculate that speed may have been a factor. They are also holding gravity and inertia for questioning.

meh, a 5-6inch bike is probably ideal. It's pretty pedal-y, maybe even a hardtail. That course is fun though, can't wait to ride it again.

just in case anyone missed all the other posts/info about this. we are hoping to get a few days with the lift going throughout the summer depending on how the turnout is for this. the owner has been great to work with (he gave us the go on pretty much anything we want) and we are working our butts off to get everything done for this.

hope to see a good turnout

we have four trails cleared and rideable, 2 dh and 2 freeride. we rode everything but the big drop (it wasn't done by the time i had to get out of there) everything flows together pretty well even though the trails really need to be ridden in (they are soft). i do wish we had time to get some more stuff done but 4 guys can only do so much in 3 days.

some new pics are up here

    hope to see you there
