    Wausau 24

I am going to be doing the Wausau 24 at the end of the month as a team of four and am looking for local input specifically on this event and this trail system.

Specifically on tire selections, I ride a full suspension 29er and tend to prefer weight weenie type tires run tubeless. Anyone have advice as to what works and what doesn't?

Any specific advice about the event? What is on site for foods, what should for sure be brought with?

I know this is pretty generic as far as questions but this is my first 24hr race and I'm getting pretty excited

The Wausau 24 is a GREAT venue you will have a blast! Mickeys will be there for food not really sure what they will have and I believe they will do a pizza party around 10:00pm. What tires are you running now?

The tires I LOVE if I can get away with them are Bontrager 29-0s...otherwise I also really like Kenda Karmas

Bring every kind of cycling clothing that you own.....arm warmers knee warmers (it can get cold at night)....a back-up bike is a pretty nice luxury (parts bike).....a team mechanic is also a handy thing. 9 mile is made out of gravel......your low knobbed racer tires should work great. And finally........ bring some chamois butter and ibuprofen. This race is pretty famous for the wicked storms that have torn through the course, in the middle of the night. So it might be a good idea to bring a luck charm along too...

Like Gomez said the coarse is mostly gravel where your 29-0 will do great. But then there is some very sharp rocky sections that will eat up low volume thin casings for a weary rider at 2 in the morning. Also a not the rocks seem to get a little slick at night. For me personally (I'm not the fastest ananyways) I run something a lttle higher volume with good sidewalls, I figure a few minutes slower is faster then tearing a sidewall. But like I said I'm not the fastest anyways but 9 mile is my home track.

    Gomez has some great advise.

As for tires. I know quite a few people who roll Karma's and love them at 9 Mile
    Ray's Indoor Bike Park MKE.

I ride Karma's and feel they are a good tire for Nine Mile. I suppose Maxxis Ikon's would do well also...I'm looking to get my hands on a pair of those soon. Otherwise your 29-0 would do just fine if it stays dry.

After reading all the comments above you should decide to bring a spare tire or two.

On a separate, but still Wausau24 related topic... anyone up in these parts looking for a team for the race? Our 6 person team had two drop out. We're not particularly serious and gung-ho about racing so want to keep it as a 6 person team.

    Any takers for a spot?

    Need some monkey butt powder.
The worst is feeling the highest of highs, but always feeling the lowest of the lows.

    It's all a dream...

That's insulting to the ladies who have enough character to get themselves out of a self-imposed inconvenient situation.
