    Shots of Salem Hills ride

    Hey St. Cloud crew,

Those are some great shots. Looks like you kids are having a fine time! A few of us in the twin cities got together last weekend and had a good ride. Riding with you guys would be fun. I'll have to keep it in mind if I'm able to make it to St. Cloud at all this winter. Watch the Group Rides section on morcmtb.org if you'd ever like to join in on one of those rides.

Here's some pics of the ride last weekend, thanks to Kleincrazy.

I've never ridden in snow - are you riding on a lake in some of those pictures? How cold is it? Studded tires?

Yes, we are riding on the river for some of the parts. One of the guys riding with us is using studded tires. The rest of us are not. The problem with studded tires is they need to have full tire pressure in order for the studs to hook up.

As you can see from the pictures, the snow was soo deep that the tires never made it to solid ground. I have a 3" tire in the front and a 2.7" in the rear. On the last ride I took all of the air out of the rear tire. This allowed the tires to have a larger foot print to make it easier to accellerate.

    Are you from minnesota?

I grew up on the east coast, but live in OR now - no snow here. It does rain a little, though. I could be moving to MN and was glad to see some hard cores riding in the winter. Is there a temp limit that seems to keep folks off the trails?

    Thanks!
