    MTB trails near Oconomowoc, WI?

    Hello,

My family and I will be visiting Oconomowoc, WI, and I'd like to know if there are some good MTB trails near this area. Thanks, Doug

John Muir and/or Emma Carlin trails, ~30 mins / 25 miles south of Oconomowoc (near La Grange). Plenty more around but...depends on what kind of trails you are looking for and how far you are willing to travel from "O."

Like No Name said, John Muir and Emma Carlin trails, plus the 'connector', which are all in the southern unit of the Kettle Moraine State Park. Lots of miles of pure singletrack there. If you start at one trailhead and ride the outermost loop, plus connector sections, total mileage is around 25 I believe (+/- 3hrs. of solid riding). Add more miles if you do the inner loops as well. Typical WI terrain - rolling hills in the woods, a few challenging technical sections mixed in. It's a network you can pretty much keep spinning in the middle ring on. Overall a fun ride. They do close the trails during wet spells, so call the trail hotline before heading out. Check out WI DNR website for details.
