    Mn mtb series questions

Anyone here races the Minnesota mtb series before? Wondering what kind of skill level I should expect to see.

Depends on what class you are going to ride. They run Citizen,Sport, Comp, Elite/Pro. My guess is you are going to race Citizen or Sport, based on the vibe I get from your post. I have not raced the Citizen class, but in Sport you will find a mix of riders. There are some who should be racing Citizen, and some Comp level riders sandbagging it.

What does your USA Cycling license say on it for MTB racing?
I'd think you'd race whatever that says.
If you don't hold a USA Cycling license I'm not sure if you can self select or not.

Regarding skill I'm sure its all over the board for the lower levels.

MN MTB Series is not affiliated with USAC. They ended it about 2 years ago I believe.

You'll have to clarify the above. You seem to be pretty sure that you're faster or slower than either "Citizen" or "Comp", but I can't tell which.

Below is the basic breakdown of the classes (intentionally omitting kids & marathon), from fastest to slowest:

    1) Elite
    2) Comp
    3) Sport
    4) Citizen

More details here: Series Racing Information

Really, this is a pretty low-risk decision for you. Since you're apparently not a 'beginner' just jump into "Comp" for your first race and see where you land. "Comp" typically has many more riders than "Elite", so you're likely to beat some and also be beat by others. If you do go to the podium or come in dead last, you'll know which class to race next.
