Minneapolis in July- suggestions for rides near town.
I am going to Minneapolis for a work trip in July and really wanted to check out the local MTB scene:
Are there any worthwhile trails near town? Do I need to rent a car?

Is there any shops or bars I need to visit.

Thank you in advance- i love this part of the country and have wanted to get some trail/dirt riding in for some time.

Plan on bringing my rigid single speed or cross bike depending on what people think.

Theo Wirth is very accessible to downtown (it's within the MPLS city limits) and a blast to ride. If you have a car there are 4-5 other 4-15 miles systems within a half hour or so (Carver, Lebonon Hills, Elm Creek) all which would be fun on your singlespeed. All are XC based with lots of fun trails and optional well-designed gnar.

I like the Nook in St Paul for some of the best burgers I know about in a trendy/hole in the wall location.

Via the light rail you can get to River Bottoms and Battle Creek (a bit on street riding is required). River Bottoms is fun, though its an adventure course and very flat.

Do you use Trailforks? It has a feature that direct on the road to the trail. Theo can be gotten to via the Ground Rounds.

Have time for out-state riding? A rental car? Duluth and Cuyuna are options then.
