Kettle was totally smurfy tonight. We saw trailblazer Dave and other FCF Dignitaries like Chris Kiegel and gnomes. Rode the squirrel to the rainey backwards to the red frontwards to the orange back to backwards to the blue green all frontwards like and then had an Ale Asylum, Madtowne Nut Brown Ale and a New Glarus brewing Stone Soup back at the Muir Disco Palace Trailhead Parking Complex.

Next weeks wednesday evening kettle night ride will be held on Thursday, so we can ride with Seratonin and stuff.

The trails were indeed smurfy. Now your constant death braking is another story . . .

I live in Minnesota and have inlaws in Southern WI (Kenosha) and have read this thread and hope to get out to Kettle South next time I am in town. What entry point to the park do you guys usually meet at or is the most common for Mtn Bikers to meet at/park?

Also I saw the pics with the lights. Zero lights on bars and all on helmets. Is that the preferred/safest/best route to go? I am trying to narrow down some lighting systems and was trying to decide if i should go helmet or bars or both? Opinions please? I posted a similar question about my quest for light on the endurance forum just prior to seeing this on the MN/WI page and then saw the pics with all the head lamps. Please feel free to give me your lighting opinion there so there is not a thread high jack issue. Here is the link to that post:

The most common Trailhead parking is at John Muir.

When i switched to a HID light, I stopped running a handlebar light. I just run my back-up light on the HB. Some of these new LED systems are even brighter than HID with much smaller/lighter batteries and much lower cost. I still sometimes run 2 HID's (one on the bar and one helmet mount) but I think that it's overkill. 700+ lumens on your helmet should do very nicely.

Have you ever heard about the legend of the Kettle Dog-Man?

Are these nightrides still on with the time change and all? I heard from a guy I met on the trails out there on Sunday something about a Tuesday night ride?

Kettle nite rides are still happen'n. I'm out for little while with some post surgery recovery, but there's a weekly (no-drop-social) group ride out there, where the day kind of fluctuates to accommodate dry weather, between Tues-Weds-Thurs. In addition, there's a fast paced nite-time training ride that is run by the Kettle Moraine Flyers, but I don't know what night they go.

My #1 son, Alex, photo shopped three shots together to create a panoramic shot from a group ride a few weeks ago.

I heard from a little Black Bird that Butch went out Saturday morning and double-timed it around the Blue Loop with a leaf blower and then hit the trail in the gorgeous seventy degree afternoon for some miles. Trailblazer Dave and a few of the folks pictured above were out Saturday Morning tweeking Elvis the Pelvis out by shelter #2....making a berm for all of us to rail.

    Indian Summer!
