How do I find Kettle Moraine?

    Hi friends,

I have been wanting to go biking on Kettle Moraine for a long time.

I am having a hard time finding the exact location of the trail(s) to input into my GPS.

Can someone be kind enough to give me a location to the park entrance or parking lot so I can go mountain biking this weekend?

I would appreciate your help so much!

    Thank you and god bless!

The northern kettles are the greenbush trails and the southern kettles are the Emma Carlin and the John Muir trails. I hope this helps.

From Chicago: From the city take I-94 north to Highway 50 in Kenosha, WI. Go west (left) on 50 to Highway 12 (just before Lake Geneva). Take Highway 12 north (it curves west) to Highway H (you’ll see the La Grange General Store). Go north (right) on H. The John Muir trailhead is approx. 1-1/2 miles on your left.

On another note, I don't have a GPS and I go mountain biking all the time at all sorts of different trails around the state. To each his own I guess.

Remember the evil mountain from Krull? Kettle Moraine moves just like it. Never in the same place twice.

Kettle Moraine could also be compared to Mordor.

Wait. Those aren't gnomes, they're Orcs!

The Kettle Moraine is a State Forest area comprising several hundred square miles in essentially two regions of the state.

The trails you are looking for are: Greenbush and New Fane in the Northern Kettle Moraine and John Muir and Emma Carlin in the Southern Kettle Moraine.

You will need to purchase both a park pass and a trail pass for the state forest areas. These can be purchased at almost all the trailheads.

Directions to the Northern Unit http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/parks/spe...mn/#directions
    Greenbush http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/parks/spe...bushbiketr.pdf
    New Fane http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/parks/spe...nnewfanetr.pdf

Directions to the Southern Unit http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/parks/specific/kms/#howto
