Some spots for the short race are still available. For those of you who were not paying attention they changed the entry format, there is no more lottery. it was first come first serve starting on Jan 1 at noon. They also increased the field in both races by a couple of hundred.

You can still get in by submitting something for the 50 ways contest. I always hated waiting to hear if I got in with the lottery so the change works for me.

Yea I almost dropped the ball on that one. I freaked out when I got the email saying it was 80% full. I signed up at that time. Guess the sense of urgency worked for them. I heard that last year, everyone who signed up for the lottery got in because they didn't even reach the max rider limit. That is probably why they did away with the lottery.

I'm just a weekend warrior bound and determined to go under 3 hours before I die(3:04 best and 3:08 last year in wet conditions) and it's just a good time with my brother and his friends. My 10th time doing the long race and it's still the highlight of the riding season although it's getting pretty expensive.
