Bell Built Grant Voting live !!!!

It is time to vote and spread the word! This will be a tough battle! Please vote for the Cottage Grove Bike Park! We are a national finalist for $33,000 grant and the winner is chosen by popular vote!

We have been working very hard over the last few years to build and develop and well-rounded and diverse riding scene here. We are focused on bringing alternative and progressive riding facilities such as the CGBP to the Twin Cities Metro area so that we can get more youth into the sport! If we win the grant we will be building a 1 acre world class dirt jump plaza that will help bring our park to the next level!
This park is going to be a huge asset to not only Cottage Grove and the Twin Cites but all of Minnesota and the Upper Midwest, as there is nothing else like this around here! Thank you for your support and again please vote for Cottage Grove Bike Park! You are voting to support Upper Midwest riding!

CGBP is a sweet place to ride already. If they get the Bell Built Grant to add the jump lines and other features... it will be unreal!

BUMP. It's still a close race! Support the bike park in your area... or even if it isn't in your area... vote for Cottage Grove anyway

Don't hate, but since I live in far Southeast Wi I had to vote for Andres Bike Park
And they upped the ante Chicago style (where buying votes is part of their heritage) by offering a chance to win a bike.

Have to say my heart is with Indiana though because there's just almost no way they can compete in this type of contest. Would be nice to see a contest that focuses on some of the smaller local trail systems not in major metropolitan areas that probably need the money more than any of the top contenders here.
Warning: may contain sarcasm and/or crap made up in an attempt to feel important.

Agreed. Actually, I'd love to see money go to ALL these projects!

FWIW, Cottage Grove is on my list of places to visit next time I'm in that area. But since Andres is so close to home, I had to vote for it.

i hear ya, and agree on some levels, but dont for a moment think that we in the twin cities have it easy, the cgbp is an entirely grassroots volunteer project and the volunteers bust their butts to get it off the ground, i have the calluses to prove it haha!

It is official! CGBP won the Bell Grant

thank you all very much for your support and helping us with this grant for MN!

the bell grant will go towards building a world class dirt jump area with beginner and intermediate jump lines and a full on dj wonderland for the advanced and expert level riders.

we will also be building a strider track for the youngest riders. this actually should be done long before the IMBA pro builders show up. It will be located right next to the entrance area and pump tracks so that the parents can keep a close eye on them.

The goal of the park is to build a great experience for all riders and to provide progression in everything we do! At this time we have the 4x and pump tracks that are Beginner/intermediate, so it is time to build something for the advanced and expert riders but also provide the steps for those beginner and intermediate level riders to get to that level!

    Cheers!

    Bell built grant update!!!!

We have received some questions about the Bell Grant and people are looking for an update, so we want to fill you all in and keep you up to date (sorry it is long, but please read all of it)

WHEN WILL IT BE BUILT? - It is still planned to be built this year. The build will hopefully start mid-September so about 1 month from now. We are working out the final details with IMBA as we speak.

WHAT WILL BE BUILT? - The build will consist of a large dirt jump area off the back side of the large starting hill at the top of the park and will go out into the South West corner of the park where there are large piles of dirt and will consist of 3-4 lines of progressive dirt jumps ranging from beginner to expert. It looks like it will most likely be built by Flow Ride Trail Concepts, a sub-contractor of IMBA. They are currently building the Duluth DJ's and are responsible for Frisco Bike Park in CO and other great parks, so we are excited for that!

HOW DOES THIS GRANT WORK? - It is more of a contest than a grant as Bell puts up 3 x $33,000 prizes but it isn't actual money that we can choose to use as we see fit. If you win you are given a $33,000 credit with IMBA Trail solutions. They come and meet you, see the site ask what you want and make a design and give you a build timeline and cost estimate and then come and build it for you.
We met June 1 with IMBA. We got the actual plan about second week of July (see picture) with a cost estimate of $57,000 so we are $24,000 short of getting our "Dream Trail" built. We can make up some of that short fall by finding equipment sponsors and other sponsors...ext.... volunteer labor can help stretch that money as well.

WHAT ELSE IS NEEDE TO MAKE THIS PART OF THE PARK A SUCCESS AND GET IT OPENED ASAP? Ė
Short answer is money! We need more funding, equipment usage and material.

That is why we have been asking for donations here: CGBP - Razoo
The party at the park will help but isnít going to be enough.

We are also looking for any connections with equipment dealers, rental companies or anyone else you might know that might be willing to let us use their machinery to complete are project: we need a large tracked skid steer, a front end loader with at least a 2 yard bucket or larger, mini-excavator and a vibrating plate packer. Not having to rent these will save us about $15,000 and bring us that much closer to closing the gap on our financial short fall.

As well as we are looking for dirt donations, Clay fill, clay loam or clay silt. We have about 1250 cubic yards and IMBA is estimating 3000 cubic yards to complete the project.

We have been told by IMBA that the project will continue no matter what, funding or materials and they will simply build as much as they material and funds allow and that will be what we get.

We are still exploring all options for additional funding and support so hopefully things will all work out but looks like we will need to finish out the project ourselves or hire it out later down the road with funds allow.

We will be attending a Park Board meeting tonight at 7pm to get their final sign off, ask for assistance with site prep and hopefully a financial contribution to help complete this section. You are all welcome to attend.
