New question here. Anyone been to Alpine Valley?

So has anyone been to the Alpine Valley mountain bike trails?

If so, how does it compare to John Muir in your opinion?

It is ever growing but currently has near 5 miles, brand new, a great setting for a trail.

Not to hijack, but how is Silver Lake? I was thinking about heading up there this afternoon.

Went to Alpine Valley today, and it is awesome! Like mofxr said there is no comparison to John Muir. If you are in the area and haven't gone yet, just go it is totally worth the 2 dollars.

I'll make it out there eventually, but what set of trails would you say it's most similar to for comparison?

I'd like to know this, too. The southern unit of Kettle and Alpine are about equal driving distance for me (1hr 20min). Is it worth it to check out Alpine over Kettle?

It is more like Emma than John Muir, but has its own sweet flavor.

I've only ridden at John Muir, Minooka, and Lapham Peak. Alpine Valley is different than all of them. Out of the three I believe Minooka is the most like Alpine Valley, but it's still not even a good comparison.

I didn't even get to finish the trail either, I ran out of sun light (and didn't bring my lights) so I had to cut down the hill along side one of the lifts. If I had to guess I would say I finished 80% of the trail but I am not sure. Going to go back there this weekend, hopefully, and do the entire trail.

So Muir is not real mountain biking? Care to elaborate?

I'm just gonna guess it's the climbing. There is no shortage of that at Alpine. Just rode it yesterday and it showed me my lack of conditioning lol. Was a fun ride though.

I'd love to ride there, alas...
