Thats according to my part per part analysis on the rds i had. Which i tried to review to differentiate the build of each model. Further we observed that the top 3 11 speed rds had the same profiles on all parts curves and everything though as said earlier the xx1 has more machining internaly to reduce weight. Those were omitted on the x01 and x1 units. Lower end gx1 and nx1 share a different paralleogram profile (or mould for casting) than the higher end models. A friend also got both the 2 rds. And later settled for the xx1 units after us having good deals on used units.
Currently we run with xx1 shifters and either an x01 or xx1 rd, x01 or xx1 cassette , and alloy cranks on our bikes. Just sharing.
Hope u are enlightend by this discussion.
