I'm using Planet Bike Cascadia fenders on the Ogre, with Schwalbe Big Apples in the 2.35" size. It's tight. The fender contacts the cable for the front derailleur, and I had to use a spacer at the fender mount closest to the BB to space the fender back towards the tire about 1/4 of an inch, in order to get enough clearance for the derailleur cable. I haven't had any issues with the cable rub...front D works great (It's a shimano XT). There are pictures of my clearance situation, and spacer set up in the "Surly Ogre" thread in the Surly forum. I love the bike! It's great. Have fun with yours.

The surly looks better than the Soul Cycles one to me, just in terms of versitility... I had a heck of a time mounting fenders, becuase the SC one doesn't have any provisions for that. The surly is set up for fender, rack, discs, or post mount brakes. You could do whatever you wanted with it. I had to get creative to get the fender to work on the SC fork.

Thanks CB for the Surly and Soul Cycles as places to look for forks, and to what you have done w your Access.

    Much obliged! GS

I went back and forth when I was looking. I have an Access built up as a mountain bike, and another one built up as the commuter. I really liked the geometry of the mountain bike, and I didn't want to change it. It has an 80mm suspension fork on it (rock shox), so I wanted to get something rigid that would maintian that geometry. I landed on a Soul Cycles "Dillinger" fork. I think it's their "2nd Generation" dillinger fork. It is "suspension corrected" for 80mm of travel, so it's essentially the same height as an 80mm suspension fork. I forget the Axle to Crown measurement, but I'm sure you could find it on the Soul Cycles website or email them. It was pretty inexpensive. It's steel, disc only, and I have no complaints about it. It's been great. I'm running 2.35" tires, so it's plenty wide. it is on the heavy side, but I wasn't too worried about that knowing that I was going to be running massive tires anyway. At the very least, you could use the measurements as a guideline.

    CB,
This is Grandsalmon, with the Access 29 frame that I coupled with your inspiration.
If and when you have the time, was there a preferable rigid fork you found that worked best, or what would you consider the most ideal if to choose?
In total, this includes the a2c, rake, even material. Not easy finding disc tabbed forks that don't weigh a ton, though there are some CX forks out there where the steel would be forgiving. Of course, moving along w aluminum, carbon, the selection lessens and the prices soar. (a fat carbon would transcend nicely with the headtube juncture.)

Thanks for your time and resource; you give quite a bit to the forum(s)!
    Cheers!

    p.s. probably won't run past a 32c tire usage.
