I have osteoarthritis, but was originally diagnosed with chondromalicia years ago. I take glucosamine/chondroitin daily. I ride about 100 - 130 kms / week.

    First thanks for yr reply

I have been suffering chondromalacia patella for three years. In the first 2 years I didn't ride bike. I put on weight. At last I decided not to follow doctors and resumed cycling again. I ride around 80-100 kms weekly.

I am also taking glucosamine chondromitine msm supplements. My pain lessened but I want to go on riding bike till my death

I am planning to be shot crespine gel or synvisc. Was yours chondromalacia patella or osteoarthritis ?

Hi undencem, I think they worked differently for different people but have worked wonderfully for me. In my 30's I was off the bike for nearly 2 years due to osteoarthritis. I spent a year doing consistent rehab. Ultimately, Synvisc got me riding again. My doc says I am her longest running patient as apparently it does stop working for some. I have been getting shots for over 10 years though. The protocol is a series of 3 shots on 3 consecutive weeks. There is a 1-shot option, but my orthopaedic doesn't think it is as effective. Please note that many insurers will not continue covering after 3 years. I get a series of 3 shots basically every 6 months as that is what is allowed.

    Good luck in your recovery.

    Dear gmm

As I read you have had 4 synvisc shots in four consecutive years for knee recovery. I also have cp problem. I want to have synvisc shots. How are they ? How many shots can I have ? For example if I have 10 shots in 10 years , does it still work ?

    I appreciate yr help
