    Triathlons with Mtbikes

Does anyone know of a triathlon or a race with a similar setup that uses MTBikes and trailriding versus road biking on the streets? I don't have the money to get a road bike also and was looking into getting into a challenging race. The closest one I can find is the Tully Lake Triathlon but it requires a Kayak/Canoe instead of swimming and I don't have that either. Thanks

    Xterra stoaked

Check out the Xterra challenge website. The closest one is in Hanover NH. Also, if you browse yahoo or another search engine for cool runnings. They are a race organzer that lists these types of events. The only one that I definately know about though is Xterra stoaked.

there is also the Top Notch in Franconia, NH. it starts with a bike event which is half-road and half-trail, climbing about 1100 feet in 6.5 miles, followed by a swim across Echo Lake and then 2.5 mile run up Cannon Mountain!

    happens on Aug 2: http://www.franconiasports.com/about...triathlon.html

I've never done the xterra. I've done the Mud sweat n gears before. Those events are tons of fun. Even if you don't train for them.
The muddy buddy challenge down in Freetown Mass was a blast. The land that it all happened on got sold to a developer a few years ago. It hasn't come around since. The year I did it I saw Will Ferrell there.

    Anymore out there?

Wow this is quite a list being generated. A co worker of mine did the Muddy Buddy he said it wasn't to tough but lots of fun. I can do the biking and running but I definately should train or get the swim technique down to make it easier.

    Thanks everyone!
