Tompson Res. (B&T) Trail Work Day - June 13, 2010
    Trail Project #: TSR20100613
Trail Work Day: Sunday June 13, 2010
    Location: Sunset Mt. Trail
Park: Tompson Reservation - Gloucester, MA

On Sunday June 13, 2009, Essex County Greenbelt in conjunction with Dieselbikes, North Shore NEMBA and Sinister Bikes will be holding our spring time Trail Maintenance day at Tompson Street Reservation in Gloucester. This trail day has been approved by Greenbelt. We will require a number of volunteers to complete the job on Sunday. The trail work site is about a 15 minute walk from the parking location. Here is what you need to know:

    Start Time and Meeting Location:
Everyone should meet at the Old Cemetery located on 88 Fernald Street, Gloucester MA 01930 at 8:30am. We will be leaving the parking area by 8:50 after a trail safety/work review meeting and head to the job site. If you are unable to make it there by 8:50, come anyway and just ride or walk out to the work site. We will put you to work when you get there.

    Project Weather/Cancellation Notice:
Dieselbikes, NSNEMBA and Sinister Bikes work rain or shine. If inclement weather such as but not limited to severe lightning, heavy rain, nor'easters and or snow, we will then post a cancellation notice one day prior on the homepage of our website.

    Estimated Project Time:
We expect this project to take 4-5 hours to complete. If you bring your bike, you can be the first to ride the refurbished trail. We may have a group ride after the trail day, but this is weather/time dependent.

    What to Bring:
Bring your own bug spray, snacks, water, pair of work gloves and eye protection. Weather is always questionable, so dress appropriately. Bring your bike is encouraged but always optional. Lunch will be provided by North Shore NEMBA.

What WE are going to do:
We will be working on a section of the Sunset Mt. Trail that connects to the Joint Venture Trail. This project will encompass re-routing a few sections of eroding trail to more sustainable terrain. Bench cutting, moving of large rocks, trail armoring and path definition will be the majority of work scheduled for Sunday. The group will be broken into 3 teams to handle each of the trail sections identified for repair. This will be a labor intensive day and tools will be provided for this work day. If you have your own personal tools you would rather work with, feel free to bring them, but you are responsible for your own property.

Please e-mail Frank or Dan ([email protected], [email protected]) if you need further information.
