Some Western Mass Labor Day Weekend riding shots (X-post/Passion)

It's been a long, hot & dry summer here in New England. Due to a variety of circumstances beyond my control at work & personally, I have not been able to ride near as much as I've wanted to. Whenever I ride with friends, we're going too quick to stop and take pics so occasionally I take "photo rides". Here are a few shots from this weekend.

I started out with a quick romp through a local watershed area on my Crosscheck.

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963852284/" title="redcheck by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4151/4963852284_ab9ebd733e_b.jpg" width="920" height="696" alt="redcheck" /></a>

Later that day, I took the Scandal out to play. About 10 minutes into the ride I needed to re-wrap my ankle.

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963838282/" title="rewrap by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4146/4963838282_c12ed74029_b.jpg" width="1024" height="729" alt="rewrap" /></a>

I climbed a bit to a lookout that locals call "Top of the World"

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963838890/" title="Img_0101 by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4112/4963838890_93474256c6_b.jpg" width="1024" height="630" alt="Img_0101" /></a>

I continued along the ridgeline, crossed a road and ended up here. The hills in the background are what I rode to get to where I was in this shot.

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963241107/" title="Img_0156 by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4150/4963241107_6d5e9f1061_b.jpg" width="1024" height="686" alt="Img_0156" /></a>

On Sunday, I went to one of my favorite trail systems to do some rock riding. So that's what I did.

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963840786/" title="Img_0188 by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4105/4963840786_47dee87a00_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="Img_0188" /></a>

And I did it some more...

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963243645/" title="Img_0203 by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4127/4963243645_f0a7703dbb_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="Img_0203" /></a>

And continued to ride the rocks...

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963244763/" title="Img_0227 by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4106/4963244763_e5436d48ed_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="Img_0227" /></a>

    Again...

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963245967/" title="Img_0238 by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4088/4963245967_738c918240_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="Img_0238" /></a>

    And again.

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963248591/" title="Img_0283 by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4148/4963248591_80ff8990a2_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="Img_0283" /></a>

And sometimes I rode them both ways.

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963249793/" title="Img_0289 by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4107/4963249793_dd403603b8_b.jpg" width="768" height="1024" alt="Img_0289" /></a>

I tried lines I hadn't succeeded at before.

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963251235/" title="Img_0318 by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4086/4963251235_673f6efc00_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Img_0318" /></a>

    And nailed them.

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963252687/" title="Img_0379 by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4130/4963252687_f36436011b_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Img_0379" /></a>

Later in the day, I took my son out for a ride. He rips for a 6 year old.

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963902814/" title="jacob by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4109/4963902814_ea9b2d912b_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="jacob" /></a>

Our dog, Lucy Brown joined us. She took Jacob for a ride...

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963302995/" title="jacoblucybrown by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4127/4963302995_9dafaaac28_b.jpg" width="739" height="1024" alt="jacoblucybrown" /></a>

And at the end of the day, with a beer in hand, I kept thinking about the words on a trailside monument that I often visit.

    <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/redwarrior/4963852184/" title="Img_0385 by m2phast, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm5.static.flickr.com/4090/4963852184_fbaa895b60_b.jpg" width="1024" height="768" alt="Img_0385" /></a>

    And I like these words...

Hope you had a good weekend, too.

    Kris

It's in Westfield on East Mountain. It's part of the M&M trail.

Nice pics Red, who is that dude in the gay spadex suit riding your bike?

Does your wife know you wear her pants?

Seriously cool pics. Where was the rocky sequence of pics take? No pictures, but Murph and I did some exploring at B-street over the weekend. Far Side is now officially my favorite trail..........epic rock work on that one.

There's magic in those pants. The kind of magic that lets me ride the same trails on a rigid SS that some people think you need 5" of travel for .

B-Street pics in order. Jacob's Ladder, Jacob's Ladder, Lizard King, Lizard King, Far out, Far Out & the last two are on Far East/Far Side I think.

So, you guys going to do the B'early Epic? All trails, both sides. I'm not sure I can do it but I'm giving it a shot...

I thought that was jacobs ladder. Its wierd how the rocks there have more of a brownish color in person (to me atleast) and then look greyish in your pics.

No way am I doing the B'early Epic. Might think about it if my bike had a motor
