Not bow ridge but a spur trail off of it, I think it was called 'eastside' - either way, houses there now...

the first pic is a rock that was on the ridge trail. 1996. not sure if it's still there as i haven't ridden that side in years. it was a very challenging climb and for the longest time (years) i couldn't quite make it. always dabbed near the top. then one day i met a guy named dave (aka flipper) he had massive tree trunk legs and was a climbing animal. he told me i was not in a strong enough gear. dropped down 2 clicks and finally had the power to make it. it was one of those eureka moments. funny how you meet people in the woods that help you become a better rider. the second pic is the classic "sanford & son" 2003. i use to love droppin off that thing. again, sorry for the poor quality

I was still in high school when most of these were taken, mountain biking wasn't hadn't even crossed my mind yet. But I've heard countless stories from natives about the parts of LWs that had been taken out for the houses, it's cool to see the pictures of these trails now. Too bad they were lost! Does anyone know the story behind this? Did the city decide to sell off part of the reservation or was this section privately owned?

It was truly epic. Big loss, but even a bigger reminder to be involved in preserving our beloved LW.

Thanks for the pictures and I think it captures well some of the LW vibe from back then! I remember when I first rode Lynn in '98 and how expansive the ridge was at that time. Amazing! Looks like these photos are at least 12 years old. Is that correct?

I see some familiar spots in the pictures and how the trees were much smaller compared to the size now. It was more of a open rocky expanse back then.
Remember, you are unique, just like everyone else.

yes most of the pics are from '96-99. scars, actually all rocks & trails in the pics are still out there and rideable. the only thing not there anymore is the ramp jump that was on the downed tree near four corners

aside from my wife and i, the other riders in the pics are: matthias kehder, brian campbell, scotty lapanne and derek and the team 420 crew. matthias moved to the west coast. not sure about scott or derek and i think brian and team 420 are new hampshire based.
