I was never really aware that there was riding there. I just found a trail map, so I figure seeing as it's only a few miles away I'll take a hike out there to check it out.

    Old thread revive!

Thanks to SlapHeadMoFo for sending me a trail map of Mt. Jefferson/Hubbardston SF!

I checked it out today. Positives first:
One could definitely string together a decent ride there with a mix of single and double track.
There trails are very well marked. Kudos to whomever maintains that area.
Bridges are in great shape, however....

    Negative:
I can't believe how wet and muddy this place was. It's been fairly dry the past week.
I think it's because the middle of the forest is trapped between hills.
It's not just the lay of the land though. The trail routing is pretty lousy. Water just runs down the center of much of the singletrack.
And lots of water = lots of bugs
You can tell is isn't a high traffic area. Stones on trails are mossy. Pin needles everywhere. Looks like the trails get more use from Equestrian than bikes.

I'll probably go back next time we have multiple weeks of dry weather as I want to hit one of the trails form the other direction, but this won't be a regular destination for me.

I know of a few locals who will ride there occassionally. But like you said, seems to be limited traffic for the most part. We've got a decent little loop in Hardwick if you're looking for some trail riding.
