Mass Midstate Trail-- fully open to bikes?

As far as I can tell, the whole trail is open to bikes-- is this wrong? Do I need to detour some of it?

There are some sections that aren't open to bikes - some Audobon land in Princeton, anything on Wachusett mtn, the Crow Hill area near Leominster SF, and there's also a private landowner in Ashburnham that has the trail where it runs on his property as off limits to bikes. Not sure about south of Princeton so much...

The official policy of the Midstate Trail is that they have negotiated official access for HIKING with all landowners the length of the trail. However, each landowner is free to allow other access as they see fit. In addition to the disallowed areas slapheadmofo mentioned, the Midstate Trail travels through the Ware River Watershed in Rutland, Barre, Oakham, and Hubbardston and bicycles are banned from all singletrack in that area (see http://forums.mtbr.com/massachusetts...ea-929747.html).

The Army Corps of Engineers have a different set of rules which allow bicycles as best I can tell, and the Midstate does go through their Barre Falls Dam and Hodges Village Dam properties. Additionally, bikes are allowed on all DCR MassParks (who manage all state parks, forests, and reservations) trails unless posted otherwise. This means Spencer SF and Douglas SF allow bikes on the Midstate, as does private property owner Treasure Valley Scout Reservation in Rutland/Oakham/Paxton/Spencer.

    Hope this helps.
